Backed down again huh?

"Labor MPs have backed down on a demand that Indonesian abattoirs comply with Australian standards, paving the way for the return of live cattle exports to slaughterhouses that do not require animals be stunned before they are killed."

Of course you have. You spineless jerks.
You and your great moral imperatives that you forget as soon as someone somewhere whinges about them.
Now how are we going to believe you when you tell us you have assurances that refugees sent to Malaysia will not be caned?
Where's your fucking "resolve" now???

I hope the sex was good

I don't want to sound prejudiced here... but....

This is what happens when the modernity of the Internet meets the barbarity of religiously based morality:

"Indonesia's biggest rock star, Nazril ''Ariel'' Irham, has been sentenced to 3½ years in prison after personal sex videos were stolen from his laptop and went viral on the internet."

Yep.
You read that correctly.
Someone else stole HIS property - but HE gets sent to prison, on anti-pornography laws, for something he never distributed.

His privacy has been violated, yet he is the one convicted.

"1000 Islamists staged a rally and pelted Nazril's police van with eggs and tomatoes."

I assume that afterwards they all went home and had a good wank watching the video.

AFP investigates Balibo as war crime

This is a sequel of sorts to this post.

34 years after the event, Australian Federal Police are investigating the circumstances surrounding the deaths of five Australian newsmen during the Indonesian invasion of East Timor... as a potential war crime.

Needless to say the Indonesian government is less than happy about the AFP stirring up uncomfortable memories.

We now hear that one or more of them may have been tortured (read "subjected to enhanced interrogation"... if so inclined) prior to being murdered. Or possibly tortured to death.

To hell with the Indonesian government. Let's get the truth.

The Balibo Five

In 1975 Indonesia, under the Suharto government, brutally invaded East Timor with the full blessings of the United States of America, who wished to maintain good relations with Indonesia as Vietnam fell down around their ears. The Australian government - in spite of extreme disquiet among the public - were obedient to US interests.

It's an ugly ugly truth.

The Indonesian military committed wholesale atrocities, including the shooting of women and children in the streets.
This is a trailer for a film about the Balibo incident wherein five Australian journalists were murdered:
