That's me on the left (... no not really).
My son had a Japanese edition of this book.
I read over and over to him till I knew it word-perfect... "Kaiju no iru tokoro".
I learned today this adaptation was actually filmed here around my hometown, Melbourne, three years ago.

I don't know how this film is going to work, but I sure hope it does.
I watched a rather whimsical commercial for this movie the other day and my reaction was, "I really wish I had read this when I was a kid because it looks like it would be a great vehicle for childhood nostalgia."
ReplyDeleteOf course, Transformers and GI Joe were both pretty big disappointments so I guess there are no guarantees but this looks like a good one. I hope that it conjures some happy memories of your son, mate.
Just came across this story, thought you might be interested.
