The love theme from High Road to China, composed by John Barry for the 1983 adventure film. The film is based very loosely on a novel by the same name, by Australian author Jon Cleary, born 1917 died 2010.
I've read High Road to China and another Cleary adventure novel called The Golden Sabre. The latter is about revolutionary Russia. I've have been looking for his novel of Imperial Japan called The Phoenix Tree, but that's hard to get. I had to order away for the The Golden Sabre, and that was before the days of the Internet.
The film adaptation of High Road to China is very light entertainment, but also very underrated.
