Obama wins Nobel Peace Prize

Obama has just won the Nobel Peace Prize.

Significantly, the committee said it wanted to enhance Mr. Obama’s diplomatic efforts so far.
This is a hope train that everyone wants onto.

Well almost.
Certain political elements in Obama's own country will not recognise any level success no matter what happens, as they fervently hope for some disaster to befall the country or the world in order to hang it around his neck.
This will all be interpreted by them as a socialist plot no doubt.

yet...

" “Obama has as President created a new climate in international politics. Multilateral diplomacy has regained a central position, with emphasis on the role that the United Nations and other international institutions can play. Dialogue and negotiations are preferred as instruments for resolving even the most difficult international conflicts. The vision of a world free from nuclear arms has powerfully stimulated disarmament and arms control negotiations. Thanks to Obama’s initiative, the United States is now playing a more constructive role in meeting the great climatic challenges the world is confronting. Democracy and human rights are to be strengthened.” "

amen

And the Norwegians are rated number one in the world for having the best country in the world to live. Perhaps we should listen to them.
Australia is number two.... well we're gettin' there.

  1. Insightful, as usual. I've been listening to our NPR and, as you've indicated, the righties are already at work being negative and not one Republican will have the decency to offer congratulations. Oh well, most of them probably have no clue what the Nobel Prize is or means.

Recently I published an article of the World's Best/Worst Lovers (from a poll of 15,000 women). Holland ranked #4 of the top 10 worst. Australia was #7 in the top 10 best. Hey, hey.

  2. No wonder we're all looking tired but proud.

  3. Teehee. But seriously, the righties are pissed at the president getting the Peace Prize "because he hasn't done anything, yet." Well, maybe if they'd stop being such dedicated obstructionists over every petty little thing, he could indeed accomplish at least one or two things.

  4. They don't want him to accomplish anything. They don't even want him to accomplish things they themselves actually want accomplished. Reagan himself said "you can't argue with success".

The ideological fantasy that they live within will be thus proven for the lie that it is:

Endless war as the price of peace.
Alleviating poverty via greater concentration of wealth.
Trampling on personal freedoms to guarantee public liberty.

If Obama succeeds it will fracture the prism of lies that have enabled them to sell this crap. It will be a moment of clarity that will consign the neoconservative movement to a garbage truck that won't ever be coming around your block again.

    Wouldn't that be great?

  5. Personally, I think ideals are just as valuable as accomplishments. One person's heart is just as valuable as the next person's deeds.

(Shush! Don't tell my wife, she's turned conservative on me :-) Funny, I was conservative when we met in 1972 and she was liberal. Go figure.

How's it going, you reprobate :-)

  6. In 1972 I was in first grade, sharing a crayon bin with red-haired hussy whose name I still remember.

I'm fine, thank you. Except for a bit of toothache
