This was the view at night from a suburb just to the north of mine when the bushfires were raging last summer, maybe one or two nights after Black Saturday. The Royal Commission into what "what went wrong" continues. Predictions for the coming summer are diabolical.Spring is in the air now and it feels nice. The days grow longer. The football finals are coming. It's still a number of months away, but the mix of joy and watchful anxiety that is summer nears.

What ever became of the Commission's reviews? Is there really an answer? It seems tht a natural disaster the size of that would be impossible to predict or control.

It's still ongoing. An interim report is due this month.
